BNHPC COMPLIMENTARY HEALTH SCHEDULE
NATUROPATHY PERSONNEL CLASSIFICATIONS
CLASS A: Naturopathic Physicians are educated and trained in accredited naturopathic medical colleges in the USA and Canada. They diagnose, prevent, and treat acute and chronic illness to restore and establish optimal health by supporting the person's inherent self-healing process. Rather than just suppressing symptoms, naturopathic physicians work to identify underlying causes of illness, and develop personalized treatment plans to address them. This class of practitioners will use the designation of 'ND' behind their names.
CLASS B: Naturopathic Doctors are educated and trained in accredited traditional naturopathic institutions. A traditional naturopathic doctor will focus on the prevention of diseases and optimizing health. They teach clients how applying natural lifestyle approaches can act to facilitate the body’s own natural healing and health building potential. The traditional naturopathic practitioner does not medically undertake to “diagnose” or “treat diseases,” nor by traditional definition DO NOT use surgery, drugs, or other harsh, or invasive methodology as part of service. This class of practitioners will also use the designation of 'ND' behind their names signifying 'Naturopathic Doctor as Teacher'.
CLASS C: Certified Naturopaths are educated and trained to the diploma and/or Bachelor's degree level from recognized and accredited naturopathic institutions. Certified Naturopaths can advise persons in healthy lifestyle practices. They DO NOT DIAGNOSE OR TREAT disease but rather coach the client in natural approaches that will allow the body to balance itself. Many Certified Naturopaths are health practitioners in other areas and have become trained in naturopathic principles to enhance the treatment response of their clients. The designation 'CN' or 'NC' may follow their names.
HERBALISM PERSONNEL CLASSIFICATIONS
CLASS A: Clinical Herbalists have undergone advanced training from accredited institutions and universities, at the Master’s degree or doctoral level. They work along with other health professionals to design a specific herbal health program to address a client’s specific health needs. Clinical herbalists can formulate botanical remedies and many are also skilled in wild crafting which is the natural collecting and harvesting of herbs.
CLASS B: Master Herbalists have undergone specific competency training at natural health schools, institutions, and universities in the use of botanicals to address a wide range of health conditions. Master Herbalists can formulate botanical remedies to support the body in the healing process. Many are also skilled in wild crafting which is the natural collecting and harvesting of herbs.
CLASS C: Lay Herbalists have broad knowledge of plants used to address health problems but they have not been formally trained at recognized institutions of natural health schools. They can evaluate plant quality for strength, uses, and dosages and they can formulate appropriate herbal remedies to support the body towards healing.
AROMATHERAPY PERSONNEL CLASSIFICATIONS
CLASS A: Aromatherapists are stand alone professionals who are formally trained to administer essential oils to promote health and facilitate healing. They are also often health professionals with advanced training in the use of essential oils to address specific health conditions. Evidence-based research is used to inform their choices during the restoration process. Dually-trained practitioners may refer to themselves as ‘Clinical Aromatherapists’, however generally speaking all aromatherapists obtain their training through recognized natural health institutions and/or through especially designed university course programs.
FOOT HEALTH PRACTITIONER
CLASS A: Foot Health Practitioners are stand alone professionals that are trained to the diploma and/or degree level by accredited institutions and certifying bodies who offer skill specific training in this area. Foot health practitioners work to support their clients' ability to keep their feet healthy and in good working order. Some foot health practitioners are qualified health professionals in other disciplines. The foot health practitioner DOES NOT perform any invasive procedures and refers clients with foot conditions that warrant medical attention to a podiatrist or to the client's general practice physician.
REFLEXOLOGY PERSONNEL CLASSFICIATIONS
CLASS A: Reflexologists are trained professionals therapist who are educated to the diploma and/or degree level. Many are massage therapists and/or health professionals in other disciplines with advanced certification in Reflexology. Such professionals apply the techniques to manage pain and other health conditions

BNHPC PRACTICE CODE OF CONDUCT
All registered natural health practitioners must agree to provide the highest level of care to all clients and to the best of his or her ability in accordance to the scope of practice he or she is qualified to administer, in the Isle of Bermuda.

BNHPC REGULATORY ACTIVITIES
As most natural health professions are currently unregulated in Bermuda the BNHPC provides a regulatory framework by which registered members are subjected. Examples of such BNHPC activities include:

- Signed Agreement to uphold the BNHPC PRACTICE CODE OF CONDUCT
- Yearly requirement of continued professional development and continuing education
- Fielding of complaints from the general public with respect to suspected mal feasance / mal practice
